Photo Story

Wow - this is the first time I have ever used PhotoStory and know that I will definately be using it again. It is so simple to use but yet so effective. The PhotoStory I have created above is from a Food Technology course that I attended last year. I know the students in some of my classes will love to watch this. Some things that I can see this would be useful for would be:

  • showcasing student work for parent interviews/awards nights etc
  • a very engaging 'hook' to start off a lesson
  • an effective and engaging 'how to' section of a lesson (demonstrated with photos)
Students will love to see their own designs/work in a video. It would also be a great way to get students to display their own work and possibly upoad to a WIKI page that can then be viewed by the entire class. The ability to add modern music or voice over will only enhance learning for the students by appealing to different learning styles.

I love this tool and can't wait to use it in the classroom......

  1. How beautiful. What an effective tool to use in the classroom. I can see how this would appeal to all students.
For yourself it shows that you have taken time out to display the students work, care for and respect their individaul efforts. A great hook, for the start of a unit but how wonderful to have it for a students journey within a unit of work.
I do not know if mine would be as beautiful as this, but well done to you and students.

  2. Thanks Bernice. I used a 2nd one in a year 8/9 Food Studies class and made a video of the practical work that they had conducted the previous week. They all really enjoyed seeing themselves and their dishes on TV! During a practical lesson, the students don't generally have much time to see what everyone else is doing so it was a good opportunity to see what their peers had created. I know I will definately use this tool more in the future - I also think it would be fantastic for parent-teacher-student conferences to show the parents what each student has been doing throughout the term - a quick 2 minute video can provide so much insight for a parent.
