Ok, so I may be spending a little too much time on the computer of late......but it is all in the name of learning......so I have come across this website (which I have listed to the right) http://www.wordle.com/ which allows you to make word collages.......
I don't know if it is necessarily a teaching technique or tool but it is certainly something you could use for displays, brainstorming etc......
Anyway, have a look - it's fun......
This is an easy to use website that I was introduced to last year at my prac. This was at a primary school where the teacher used it as a spelling activity where students would use their weekly spelling words to create a Wordle collage. This is the only way I have seen it being used before. It would be interesting to know other ways that this tool can be used within the classroom.
ReplyDeleteJust thought I'd add something - a couple of days ago my youngest son came home from school (he's in grade 2) with a sheet that contained a 'Wordle' with the names of all the students in his class. If it wasn't for this subject, I would not have known how that was done......it felt good to see that they are using it in their classes......I think this was an activity on spelling and also creating a collaborative class feel.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Tonita. It is not really a teaching tool but a collaborative tool for students to voice their ideas. It is good to know that they are using these tools in school and your child is also learing some of these ICT skills.
ReplyDeleteI have created posters from questionnaires and designed number boards. You could use this as a game with lots of words similar to "Pictureka" and design your own question cards.
